We (okay, Dave LaChance) actually wrote about this one three years ago, but I neglected to ask Dave the exact location and subsequently let it slip my mind. No need to ask him now, thanks to reader Gene Herman of Brattleboro, Vermont, who sent us a couple pictures of the former Studebaker dealership in Northampton, Massachusetts, located at 84 Conz Street.
The Studebaker lettering on the sign was originally redone gorgeously in bright gold paint or gold leaf when the building was first restored about twenty years ago. It had faded and gotten a little shabby until it was redone again a couple of years ago in the form you see here.
Before the restoration, the building lay derelict for many years. It now houses a dialysis center.
Unfortunately, we don’t know the name of the dealership that inhabited the building. We’ll see what we can track down on that front.
