Show season is now here, and though we’re a publishing company, not an events company, Hemmings will have several events this summer for car enthusiasts of all stripes. That list of events includes:
* Hemmings cruise-ins. Technically, these should have started already with the first cruise-in planned for last Thursday, but rained out. The remaining cruise-ins, held from 5 til dark in the Hemmings HQ parking lot in Bennington, Vermont, are scheduled for May 28, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, and August 20. They’re not the world’s largest cruise-ins, but we constantly draw a good variety of street rods, muscle cars, American collector cars, foreign collector cars, trucks and motorcycles. Plus, you get to meet the Hemmings editors and run the chance of seeing your car in Hemmings Motor News.
* Musclepalooza IX and X. If last year’s Musclepalooza events are any indication, we should be seeing packed houses for this year’s two events. As in years past, Musclepalooza IX, scheduled for this Sunday, May 24, will take place at Lebanon Valley Dragway in Upstate New York and feature a muscle car-only car show, along with F.A.S.T. and bracket-car drag racing action. For Musclepalooza X, scheduled for September 5-6, we’re moving the action down to Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey. We’re lining up a whole lotta fun, so keep your eyes stapled here for more information about that event.
* New England Concours d’Elegance. If you happened to attend one of our first two New England Concours events, you already know that they take place at the majestic venue of Stratton Mountain, the Vermont ski resort that opens the 18th hole of its golf course to us for this prestigious event. And this year’s concours follows several themes: We’re featuring Packards, Dodge’s Charger, Jaguar sedans, Maseratis, in-progress restorations and his-n-hers collector cars. If concours events aren’t for you, we will still have a tour through the Green Mountains and an open car show as a part of the three-day event, taking place July 17-19. And the best part about participating: Proceeds from this event will go toward the Camp Ta-Kum-Ta summer camp for children living with cancer.
* Sports and Exotic Car Show. If you’re a fan of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car, you won’t want to miss the fourth annual S&E Show, returning on August 8 to the lawn of the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga, New York. This year’s featured marque is Alfa Romeo, and the motorcycle show-within-a-show this year will feature Hondas.
* Vintage Car Rally. And finally, for you rally fans, we will present the third annual Hemmings Challenge Vintage Car Rally, scheduled for the week of June 21-26 in Springfield, Missouri. By entering, not only do you get a chance to pit yourself against Hemmings Publisher Jim Menneto and his navigator, Mari Parizo, you also get the chance to vie for $70,000 in prize money, with all the proceeds from this non-profit event going toward Autism Awareness programs.
Of course, we’ll have coverage of all these events here on the Hemmings Blog. For more details on them all and to see videos of past Hemmings events, visit hemmings.com.
